چکیده

Modern optical fibre networks are evolving from static point-to-point connections towards meshed networks with some degree of optical transparency and capability for reconfiguration. At the same time installation and operation shall be simplified, while the availability shall be kept high. In the network design this task can be accomplished by allocation of transmission margins and by control of performance parameters. For efficient implementation information about the various sources of degradation shall be extracted at the end-terminals.

Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (OADM) Based on Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Technology in Next Generation Optical Networks

The OADM based on DWDM technology is moving the telecommunications industry significantly closer to the development of optical networks. The OADM can be placed between two end terminals along any route and be substituted for an optical amplifier. Commercially available OADMs allow carriers to drop and/or add up to multi channels between DWDM terminals. By deploying an OADM instead of an optical...

Optimal Multiple FCLs Allocation Considering DG Penetration in Meshed Network With Multi-Level Voltages

Increasing the short circuit current due to the penetration of distributed generations (DGs) in various voltage levels and meshed topology is a basic problem in power systems. Using fault current limiter (FCL) is an efficient approach to mitigate the exceeded short circuit levels. In this paper, a new approach is presented for multiple FCLs locating to decrease short circuit levels in meshed ne...

Determination of Blood Glucose Concentration by Using Wavelet Transform and Neural Networks

Background: Early and non-invasive determination of blood glucose level is of great importance. We aimed to present a new technique to accurately infer the blood glucose concentration in peripheral blood flow using non-invasive optical monitoring system. Methods: The data for the research were obtained from 900 individuals. Of them, 750 people had diabetes mellitus (DM). The system was ...

Transport Plane Resource Discovery Mechanisms for ASON/GMPLS Meshed Transport Networks

The reduction of both deployment costs and operating expenses has emerged as a critical goal of next-generation optical networks. In this context, as each node maintains a large number of input/output ports (i.e. wavelengths, fibers, time slots ...), automation is needed to reduce long and tedious manual node configurations, thus easing network management and minimizing resource misconfiguratio...

Guaranteeing the BER in transparent optical networks using OOK signaling

A network consisting of transparent optical nodes (TONs) can provide high speed end-to-end communication paths with very low bit-error rates (BERs). However, owing to component crosstalk and other degradations at TONs, the BER of a particular communication path traversing several TONs can be degraded by a few orders of magnitude even in the absence of component failure. Monitoring the quality-o...
